We rented a car and headed north to Geraldton along the coast road.
Although the road is close to the Indian Ocean, sand dunes block most of the view. The winds from the west are strong and constant so the vegetation is limited. The early sailing explorers were not too impressed by this coastline.
Wild flowers.
We arrived at the Pinnacles.
The are is covered by these limestone structures that are up to 3.5 meters tall.
If you click on the map, you can see this area has thousands of them.
More description.
It's a 400 km drive from Perth to Geraldton and while it's easy and pleasant with not much traffic, there is not much variety.
