Google in China

I suspect some of you have been wondering why there were no new blog entries. The answer is simple. The Great Firewall of China blocks access to many of Google's services including Blogger. Even getting Gmail to work was very, very slow.

Interestingly China also blocks access to the Guardian, but access to Australian news web sites is easy and fast, so I know all about the infamous wink.

I shall start work on catching up with the blogs now that I am in the Hotel Elegance Ruby in Hanoi with the best service that I have ever experienced. To be brief. I really enjoyed the train journey from Moscow to Beijing. I did the usual Beijing tourist stuff and as you might expect, took plenty of photos. The train trip from Beijing to Hanoi was 'interesting' but not one I would care to repeat.

By the way, I kept Marianne, Robin and my sisters informed of what was going on by email so that they would not worry too much. If you were concerned about what had happened to me, I appreciate it.

  1. These days with Australian current affairs, ignorance is bliss.
