Maryborough Country Gardens - 2

It was about a twenty-minute drive to the next garden.

I didn't see too many plants and then realized it was a sculpture garden. It's home to the Alpha31 Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden.

By the way, the gambril-shaped building is not common in Australia.

Goannas.

We both liked this sculpture carved out of a block of sandstone.

It turned out that this sculpture commemorates the various animals who lived on the property. They are all buried underneath, including the horse. The ashes of the mother of the current owner are also in there somewhere. This was Marianne's favourite sculpture, possibly because it reminded her of Michelangelos's Prisoners.

I hated getting down on my knees to weed.

Some of the few plants in the garden. At least sculptures don't require watering.

Wire mesh.

There were three ladies welcoming us to the garden at the gate. On our departure, they asked what our favourites and when I nominated these three witches, they were ecstatic since they had each created one of them as representations of themselves.

I persuaded them to line up in the same position as in their sculpture. They seemed to be having a lot of fun. I enjoyed the garden, despite the lack of plants. It made a change and showed there are other ways.
