Our bnb host outside Springfield likes to restore VWs.
He took me for a ride in his crew cab pickup truck. These are very rare and it is interesting to read about the 'chicken tax' that was the cause of its rarity.
The front windows open which makes for wonderful air conditioning.
It seems like every window opens.
The back seat.
A knob can adjust the amount of air that comes though the upper vent.
We drove around to one of his friend's house to drop something off.
He is restoring a flat bed truck version.
A 1962 bug.
Notice the New South Wales number plate. The bnb couple have friends near New Castle in Oz who bought a vehicle from them.
Inside the bug.
It is such an exhilarating feeling being inside the old machine as it trundles down the back roads outside Springfield. Lots of fun.
For another ride in an old bug, see here.
