Queanbeyan

Robin is finally graduating with a Master's degree so we will attend the ceremony in Sydney. Before going to Sydney however, we will fly to Australia's capital Canberra to see a special quilt. Instead of staying in Canberra we are in Queanbeyan in nearby NSW.

We stayed in a motel beside the Queanbeyan River.

The river in the morning with the temperature about 40 F. It's not very far to the snowfields.

Canberra was designed by Walter Burley-Griffin at the beginning of the 20th century and is spread out with lots of roundabouts. Queanbeyan was built on a traditional grid pattern in 1838. It's an attractive city with many old buildings.

A small breakfast after a wonderful Turkish meal the night before.

Platypus statue.

Snail statue.

We don't see daffodils where we live in Hervey Bay.

The platypus statue. We saw one swimming in the nearby river.

I really liked Queanbeyan and would prefer to live there rather than Canberra.

A few seconds before I took this photo of the river surface, a platypus was happily swimming around.
