Glamis Castle

Those of you who remember their Shakespeare will know Macbeth and the murder of Duncan at this castle. It is also the birth place of Elizabeth Bowles, the Queen Mother, and Princess Margaret.

The road from the B&B. This is a smooth part.

Interesting house beside the road.

Sheep shelters.

After about thirty minutes, we arrived at the entrance to the castle.

The parking lot around the back.

Shop where you present your ticket.

We had to wait about thirty minutes while a bus group preceded us

It was windy and chilly in the shade.

A spot of colour.

The residential part of the castle.

Royalty gets a brown bin.

While we were waiting, we looked at an exhibition of children's clothing of the Royal family.

This Pixel 7a did a wonderful job of making this photo viewable.

The camera software can remove the blur that you usually get in low-light situations.

We then did the tour which took almost an hour and covered the public and oldest parts of the castle. Opulent is the best description.

Photography is not allowed inside.

The last room you visit is the Guard room where Macbeth murders Duncan. Shakespeare had been invited to the castle and this room supposedly inspired the play. On the way out I asked the guide whether she thought 'Out, damned spot' as the visitors left. She laughed and said no, so I told her she would from now on. I am a bad influence.

While we had been on the tour, there had been some sort of day for dogs in the castle grounds. Marianne was intrigued by this black dog.

We then left and took some photos of the front of the castle.

It's an impressive pile, but it is dwarfed by some of the castles I saw in India.

Heading back along the entrance driveway.
