The toilets I have experienced so far all have looked like this.
When you sit down some water swishes into the bowl after a couple of seconds. Presumably, it helps produce a cleaner bowl after the main flush.
On the wall are other functions. I tried the bidet which was interesting. Eventually, I worked out how to stop it.
When you stand up, it automatically flushes.
