Ned lives near Narita Airport which is one of the two airports serving Tokyo. His immediate location appears to be rural but the surrounding area has become quite built up.
A Love Hotel where couples can rent a room for a period. We went to some shops instead.
Since it was a Sunday on a long weekend we had to wait about fifteen minutes to get a table. Here Robin is preparing green tea. It wasn't the greatest since it was water poured on tea powder.
The food is delivered on a conveyor belt in little dishes. You get a warning when your food is approaching.
It wasn't the best Japanese food I have ever had but it was adequate. It's a place where parents bring their children for an outing.
Ned knows my hobby is hi-fi so he took us to a shop where you can buy second-hand equipment. At $US 600, this was a bargain. Luxman was renowned for its use of very high-quality parts and in particular, Hashimoto output transformers.
It looks deserted but the area was crowded with people enjoying a Sunday afternoon outing. Here they are listening to a band.
We then went inside a fancy department store. While Ned and Robin explored, I sat and listened to a group of schoolchildren play a concert including Pachelbel's Canon. The quality of playing was what you would expect.
Ned had bought a bunch of vegetables as well as thinly sliced meat to cook on a hibachi. This is a pepper from Ned's garden. Robin and another guest shared the pepper, each popping half into their mouths. They soon regretted it.
Ned has been a wonderful host. We haven't seen him in well over a decade and it has been fun to catch up with him.
