Morning walk in Sitges

After a good breakfast at the hotel, we set out for a walk with an outdoor temperature of 16 C.

I can't say I am too impressed by the sand but at least it is sand and not pebbles.

The esplanade is lined with interesting buildings. Sitges is a popular beach destination for nearby Barcelona.

I won't provide too much commentary. Just keep scrolling.

A beachside pavilion built in 1912.

We were impressed by the leaves.

Just inland of Sitges is the wine district of Penades.

Of course, there needs to be a mermaid.

The local church on the promontory.

It's an area of narrow winding passages.

To the right is the entrance to the harbour which dates from Roman times. It obviously needed a cannon.

Marianne was contemplating how she would look in this.

This is a refuge for homeless animals.

The beach on the north side of the promontory.

When Marianne first arrived in Sitges, she stayed in a hotel somewhere near here. She thought it was too expensive and moved to the even cheaper hotel where she met the even cheaper Ray.

Marianne reckoned that my sister Clare would look good in the left jacket.

The old Sitges. It is a lovely place.
