One of the interesting pleasures of life in Australia is to visit a small country town pub. My high school classmates decided to have lunch at Gundiah which is about 50 miles south of where we live.
The pub is named the Prince Alfred, but everybody calls it 'the Gundy'.
There are only 89 people who live in the town. When the nearby Mary River floods, the town usually floods as well. A couple of years ago, the pub was flooded to a depth of six inches.
A pleasant place to relax and play snooker or billiards. The table is 12' x 6', so much bigger than an American pool table.
One of my classmates discovered this pub when he and his wife got lost finding the nearby Theebine Pub. They decided to try the steak and it was excellent so we all decided to try the steak for our lunch. It comes from the butcher at nearby Tiaro and the butcher's best steak is allocated to the pub. It was enormous and the best steak I have had in a while.
