The third garden was only a couple of miles from the second.
The driveway to the house which was a fair distance from the entrance. Properties in this area are a few acres and while a lot of effort had gone into planting, it was obvious that the density of planting would be much less than in town properties.
They had recently bought in fresh loads of mulch, which you would expect since Spring is just around the corner.
We liked these spiky plants.
Any serious gardener needs a decent collection of pots.
A small bottle tree.
The ranch-style house. Note the deep verandahs which would be needed to cope with the hot sun in the north. This area would get quite hot in summer.
I love Aussie gum trees.
Tanks for collecting rainwater.
A play set for the daughter who was helping her father greet visitors.
Most of these country properties have a pond or dam for water storage. There is no town water in this area. The grass would normally be quite brown at this time of year but we have had so much rain this year that everything is lush and green.
So it's early days for this garden and when it becomes established it will be a huge amount of work to keep it in fine fettle. Fifty years ago, there was very little in this area other than trees and paddocks.
On the way out, I noticed a flattened cane toad which would be very common in this area since there are cane fields all over the place.
