Kulin

We spent a whole day driving from Geraldton to the tiny town of Kulin.

Most of the way, this is what it looked like. Long straight road, no traffic, huge fields of yellow canola. You may notice the windscreen is covered with bugs. It was wonderful to be able to drive at any speed I liked with no worries about radar traps and virtually no big trucks.

We drove past the house where my brother in-law lived when he was a small boy.

The middle of nowhere.

We stayed at this hotel / motel. It's owned and run by the local community.

Marianne inspecting the bug situation.

I enjoyed a refreshing glass of ginger beer.

We had dinner at the pub which eventually filled with people.

We shared a three cheese pizza washed down with this bottle of wine. The Margaret River is one of the best areas in the world for cab / sav and was really good. All the worker were from the town and were very friendly.

They provided a paper bag loaded with the brekkie basics.

I don't know why, but Marianne avoided the Vegemite.

The front of the pub.

Museum

Playground.

I think it is supposed to be an eggplant.

Kulin has numerous metal horse statues scattered around the town. Like so many tiny Aussie towns, Kulin tries hard to make itself interesting. Well done.
