Maryborough Open Gardens 2021 - garden 3

First, we do a brief promenade before we get to the house.

I grew up in a house of this design. In the days before air-conditioning, this design was probably as good as you could get to cope with the heat and humidity of Summer. However, since there is no insulation, the temperature inside is about the same as outside in Winter. An electric blanket is a necessity.

Most houses are on stilts but some are lower.

View of the river from the end of North Street.

This house overlooks the river.

This is garden 3. The house design is more like an old English design that you would find in the southern states of Oz.

Garage. I was beginning to wonder why the garden was so special.

The side of the house.

That was about the extent of the garden. Somewhat disappointing.

And the reason why they wanted some foot traffic is now obvious.

However, it is worth clicking on this link to see what is inside. The house sold for $1.250,000.

And we promenaded back along Lennox Street to our car.

The fire seems to have been relatively recent. As you might imagine, these timber houses burn very well. It will be interesting to see the house that replaces it.

Obviously a rental house that has fallen on hard times.

Solar is popular in Australia.

So that is the end of the promenade. We really enjoyed being able to take the time to look at the houses as well as the gardens.

The Doon Villa Bowling Club (artificial surface). It's one of the oldest in the state.
