Woodend

One of my old classmates Graeme and his with Ruth live in Hervey Bay but go south every year to house-sit. This year they went to Woodend which is about an hour north of Melbourne by train. We arranged to visit and get picked up at the station.

Our tram stop.  The curved building is where we are staying.

The train. It's very comfortable.

It takes over 30 minutes to get out of Melbourne but eventually, we reached typical Victorian countryside.

Sheep country.

We reached Woodend and Graeme and Ruth were waiting on the other platform.

The house they are sitting has a huge yard with a very large pond.

After lunch, we went to the nearby Trentham Falls.

Graeme said it was the first fine day they had experienced in five weeks so there was plenty of water.

It can be quite cold and miserable in rural Victoria in winter.

An explanation of how the falls came about. Click on the photo to enlarge.

Typical Victorian bush. In my opinion, Victoria is Australia's prettiest state.

We drove past a popular pub which is in the middle of nowhere.

It's a popular destination for car groups.

On the way home we passed by these old silos.

And this decrepit old signal box.
