Hakodate nightlights

Hakodate is a port city and does not have the usual tourist attractions. But it is still interesting.

We were going to have a hamburger but Robin read reviews that said that while Japanese might think the burger was good, westerners would not be impressed.

The major attraction is the nighttime view over the city from the nearby mountain. We took a tram to the stop nearest the cable car.

So we stopped at another ramen place and this time I had the salt ramen which is a speciality of the area. It was good but the noodles were not as good as the night before.

I got my exercise walking up the hill to the cable car station. All this walking is good for me but I had to stop a few times

The ride up the mountain was fairly quick and we were greeted by this view. The cable car was packed.

The boat moored near our hotel.

We did not linger even though the temperature only required a light jacket. The ship left soon after we arrived back at the hotel.

Next, we head off to Kanazawa on the west coast.
